This little picture was scanned from a darling Circa 1922 Children’s Bird book. This book isn’t dated but my research indicated that it was published between the late 1700’s to the early 1800’s. It comes from a very early Natural History book in my collection. Here we have a Stock Bird Image! This beautiful bird engraving was scanned from an early Antique Natural History book! The graphic shows the Nightingale perched upon a charming nest with three eggs inside. I love the intricate detail of the wings and tail. This fellow is a Barn Swallow soaring in the sky. Those folded back wings sure look like they could propel the bird really fast in the air! He looks to possibly be swooping down for a meal as a ‘bird of prey’ to me. It is an old engraving, also from an early dictionary. He appears to possibly be gliding through the air here. This is from a Little Birds section in an early dictionary! He has a strong, sturdy looking tail and wings. Flying Bird ClipartĪbove we have a Bunting flying through the air.
